The participant will learn how a quilt is evaluated by a judge and what qualities make a quilt worthy of ribbon consideration.  Discover how design decisions made by a quiltmaker result in a unique and remarkable quilt.  Processes for quilt critique will be explained and practiced in small group activities.  This lecture is ideal for those interested in improving personal work, learning about the quilt judging process, and appreciating quilts made by quilters at all skill levels.

Quilting for Show:  What Does the Judge See?

The participant will learn the basics of the quilt judging process and engage in guided activities to practice evaluation skills.  Examples of excellence in workmanship and design will be discussed with handouts for reference.  This lecture is ideal for anyone looking to enter a quilt into a show, interested in the judging process, or hoping to better appreciate the craftsmanship of quilting.

The participant will learn the basics of art and design and apply that knowledge to quiltmaking.  Discover how elements of design and design principles are utilized throughout the construction process.  Experience art in a variety of quilts that span the traditional to modern in style and complexity.  This lecture is ideal for the quilter looking to expand their knowledge and appreciation for artistry in quilting.
